And then it rained and faded into a  quiet murmur as though it feared waking up the houses that were fast asleep. It often played the uninvited guest of the summer winds and left before the parched soil could embrace it. It carried the scent of nostalgia and called out to me in distant whispers as it let itself get sucked into the depths of the earth.

But it was also the kind of rain that always brought you to me.
